During more than four decades in the pharmaceutical industry, Steffen has successfully guided multiple molecules—both small molecules and biologics—from bench to bedside and from clinical development to market approval. A science-driven expert in clinical development across a broad range of indications, he held senior leadership positions as Head of Clinical R&D and Chief Medical Officer since 2007 (Grünenthal Group, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals). Trained as a medical doctor and board-certified pharmacologist, Steffen received his education at the Free University of Berlin and completed postdoctoral research at the National Institutes of Health.
